Please join the Ottawa Palyul Sangha in this celebration of Tibetan Culture and commitment to the Way of Peace on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 9th
From: Angela Sumegi, [email protected]
Dear Folks,
First, I have a favour to request of all those living in the Ottawa-Hull-Wakefield area. I am in the process of preparing a report for an upcoming conference in Montreal on the state of Buddhist Dharma group activity in the Capital region. As part of that project I hope to identify and interview as many Dharma groups as I can over the next couple of months. I am aware of the major Dharma centres and groups who appear on internet lists of Buddhism in Canada/Ontario/Ottawa as well as a number of others. However, I need your help in order to make sure I include as many ethnic groups as possible — Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Chinese, Burmese, Sri Lankan, as well as smaller meditation groups who do not appear on any list, who may not have any formal organization or centre, but who, nevertheless, are an expression of Dharma activity. Some meditation groups may not necessarily be associated with any particular Buddhist school or sect, but may use various practices, including Buddhist practices. Some groups may simply be a few students who meet with a teacher – I am interested in all these kinds of Dharma activity.
So my request is that if you know of, or are involved with, any meditation or practice group in the Ottawa and surrounding region that meets the above criteria, do send me a note. The results of this report will, of course, be publicly available to anyone who is interested.
Second, this is literally a New Year announcement — LOSAR – TIBETAN NEW YEAR – is little more than 4 weeks away — see below.
with my thanks and good wishes,
Angela
